Breed Description:
Curlies have curly hair coats (like a poodle), including curly ear and fetlock hair year-round. Many people allergic to straight horses are not allergic to Curlies.
Average Height:
14.2 hands
Colors:
Bay, black, buckskin, champagne, chestnut, cremello, dun, grey, grullo, palomino, perlino, pinto, roan, white.
Conformation:
Curlies come in all types, from pony to sporthorse, and some are gaited.
Temperament:
Very quiet and affectionate.
Members of this breed often excel in the following disciplines:
- Pleasure (family horse)
- Dressage
- Trail
Breed History:
Curlies were found in the wild horse herds in the U.S. and some Native American herds.

Formerly known as "Bashkir Curly," but not related to the Russian Bashkir pony.
